It’s beautiful is it not? The fact that you always have someone who cares about you, is scared for you and loves you despite how you look like, your flaws, and your sins?
Yet we run after the ones who care .. less. The ones who will leave us, the ones who no matter how hard we try please them will always find a fault in us and when we get hurt, we ask ourselves why? And so, I will ask the same question .. why? Why do we leave what is eternal and what is definite for what will logically never last? Has anyone who exists on this planet promised us a grain’s amount of what He has? Has anyone walking on the face of this Earth done for us an atoms weight of the countless blessings He has bestowed on us? No.
As Summertime is coming to an end, ask yourself honestly, how many times have you abused yourself to impress others? When Allah clearly states how He wants to take care of all the great women He moulded with His very own magnificent Hands. How many of us misused this nobility? Are we not aware of the high rank Allah created us in and chose us to be from? And so, why do we persist on lowering ourselves to this Dunya when we are created to dwell in Gardens that our eyes have never seen or that our hearts have never perceived? Allah knows best, when He told us to wear modestly, it’s because no one would abuse us nor hurt us. He put simple and graceful characteristics of how He wants us to dress, is it too hard to work just a little for Allah? Is He not worth some effort in letting go of some praises from people who will eventually never care about us? Just let go, of all the things that downgrade Allah’s orders. Shut your ears to those who try convince you that a turban is still Hijab “don’t worry” or that hot shorts only at the beach is okay, when it’s not. Unlock yourself from being a slave to the latest trends to being a slave to the One who created everything. I promise you, He wants to take care of you.. He created for you a blessed life down here, and an OUTSTANDING one up there, one that we will finally rest and wear what we want and do as we please in.
We all sin our own way, as long as we know that those sins are not okay and that we must constantly act on improving and repenting from them, then we’re on the right track In Shaa Allah. Open your eyes to the Love He is showering you with from the day you were born until this very moment and act upon it with patience and perseverance. It is a Love that no one will ever reach. Isn’t the One who’s able to pull the sky upon our heads so that it wouldn’t fall, able to pull you up when you work harder on yourself and ask for His help? Of course Allah’s able. He knows what is best for you and Who would possibly know better than the Best? Trust Him.
O Prophet, tell your wives and your daughters and the women of the believers to bring down over themselves [part] of their outer garments. That is more suitable that they will be known and not be abused. And ever is Allah Forgiving and Merciful.
Quran (Al Ahzab, 33:59)
Often times we feel that we don’t belong to this world. Just as something might make us feel happy and that things are going as perfectly as planned, something else might come up to “ruin” our mood. Strangely
enough, that is exactly how you’re supposed to feel. This dunya isn’t supposed to be a place we play around in, we’re created for a specific reason. We are put in this test to reach a goal set by Allah. I sometimes envy those detained unjustly in jail, for they see the world as it really is; a prison. And so they aren’t fooled by it and start working towards what really matters, the Akhirah. Whereas with our “freedom”, we still can’t grasp that meaning. But as days go by, you should start realising that this all makes sense, and that this world with all its pleasures, is just one huge prison cell, thus the more you grasp this feeling, the more you must be sure that you’re ironically doing something right. The more you elevate and work harder for Allah, the more your soul becomes free, free from all the desires that shackle you to this world. Thats when you realise you want to escape. So, once you see this universe as it really is, don’t miss the chance and just let go, with all your strength.. let go fast before it lures you in again into its chains and locks. And always remember that this place isn’t our real home. Therefore, when living in it feels spurious and tough, realise that you belong somewhere greater .. know that you are finally breaking free.
Abu Huraira reported: The Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, said, “The world is a prison for the believer and a paradise for the unbeliever.”
The beginning of everything is always hard. Certain motives must emerge in order for one to take the first step, to break the fear into finally being free. Coming from a somewhat “lost” past, I could relate to the changes of being locked up by Dunya pressure compared to being a FREE slave to Allah. As ironic as that might sound, it’s true. Being a slave to the Ultimate, the One and Only eliminates any possibility that I can be a slave to this world and to unexperienced people, including myself. So, just like many people, I was scared of flipping around my whole life, however, only today I realise how beautifully simple it actually was, how just as you start thinking about seeking and striving for Allah, He outruns you to your own self, already waiting for you. Surely there were times that were hard, and other times when I felt that I just want to give up but the moment I saw how fast Allah came to me once I called Him, I trusted Him in knowing that He will be there to guide me whether it be a test or a hardship that I’d be encountering.
It’s as simple as that. Get to know Allah, so you’ll get to love Him thus even at times you can’t go on.. you’ll pick yourself up, just for Him and you’ll find that He was the One helping you up all along. You’ll look at life in a new perspective, and that every starting point of anything, from the smallest to the largest events in your life, must firstly begin with Allah and He’ll guide you through the rest. And at that very moment you will realise that you are finally free.
وَالَّذِينَ جَاهَدُوا فِينَا لَنَهْدِيَنَّهُمْ سُبُلَنَا ۚ وَإِنَّ اللَّهَ لَمَعَ الْمُحْسِنِينَ
And those who strive for Us – We will surely guide them to Our ways. And indeed, Allah is with the doers of good.
–Quran (Surat Al-Ankabut, 29:69)
